Supreme Court vs. Magisterium

Retrieve from:

John 20:19-23 New International Version (NIV)

Jesus Appears to His Disciples
19 On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” 20 After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord.

21 Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” 22 And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 If you forgive anyone’s sins, their sins are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.”

“The key to Christian Unity, is to Trust the Holy Spirit to guide and protect the Magisterium of the Church (Supreme Court of the Church). Meaning, failure to a accept it as a rule of faith, shall mean, DISUNITY among Christians.”

Reasons to become a Catholic

Reasons to become a Catholic

1. The One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church which has its head office at the Vatican is the only Church that was instituted by Jesus Christ.

2. In the 4th century, the Catholic Church, under the Divine guidance of the Holy Spirit, compiled a number of books, Gospels and letters of the Apostles to make up the Catholic Bible. About 1,000 year later, a number of man-made religions took the Catholic Bible and changed it according to their personal desires, most religions removing a number of Books from both, the Old and the New Testaments. Only the Catholic Church possesses the original texts.

3. To ensure that a single verse of the Word of God is never misinterpreted, Catholics consider the Holy Bible as a whole. Sola Scriptura has no place in the Catholic Church.

4. Today’s liturgy in the Catholic Church remains unchanged, being as it was when Jesus instituted His Church on earth.

5. The Catholic Liturgy is universal. No matter where you go in the world, the Holy Mass, Baptisms, Marriages, Ordinations, etc… are all administered the same way. This ensure stability and continuity.

6. Catholics are governed by the Canon Law of the Catholic Church that sets the expected standards regarding the administration of the Body of Christ on earth.

7. The faithful are guided by the Catechism of the Catholic Church that contains most of its beliefs and teachings, therefore ensuring uniformity in beliefs and teachings throughout the world.

8. Catholics reject all the false teachings associated with the rapture or the return of Jesus to rule on earth in a physical Kingdom for a period of time.

9. Only the Catholic Church enjoys the ongoing Real physical Presence of Jesus in its Churches. Jesus does not physically dwell in the non-Catholic churches.

10. The Catholic Church is known as the Mother Church. Others churches are known as sister churches to each other.

11. Only the Catholic Church enjoys a leader (Pope) who is a direct descendant of Saint Peter who was appointed by Jesus Himself. [Mt. 16:17-20]

12. Only the Catholic Church possesses the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven. [Mt. 16:17-20]

13. Only the Catholic Church enjoys a valid priesthood, each priest having been ordained by apostolic succession.

14. The Catholic Church appoints its priests to parishes. The priests are not elected by a Parish Board of Directors that sets up an interview to determine if a priest’s beliefs harmonizes with their own beliefs.

15. The Catholic Church does not abuse the title of Bishop by appointing a Bishop to every Parish. Catholic Bishops are shepherds to a Diocese that usually embrace a large territory in which is located a large number of Parishes.

16. The Catholic Church administers seven Sacraments as instituted by Jesus Himself.

17. The Catholic Church enjoys the Sacrament of Baptism that gives new life to the soul and admits it into the Body of Christ. Without this Sacrament, one cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

18. The Catholic Church enjoys the Sacrament of Confession, the only means instituted by Jesus to obtain the forgiveness of sins.

19. The Catholic Church enjoys the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist that gives life to those who receive it on a regular basis.

20. The doctrines of the Catholic Church are unchangeable. Example: abortion has always been condemned. Church teachings are not based on the subjective beliefs of individual ministers or their Board of Directors.

21. The Sacred Tradition has an important place in the Catholic Church. During the first 400 years, when there was no Holy Bible, the entirety of Jesus’ revelation was passed on to successive generations by apostolic succession (Sacred Tradition). At a later time, Jesus’ revelation was also passed on by the Bible (Sacred Scripture).

22. The Catholic Church protects the Sacrament of Marriage, only providing an annulment to those whose’s marriage has been proven to be invalid.

23. The Catholic Church shares in the communion of the departed Saints through its membership in the Mystical Body of Christ.

From Mary-hater to Marian devotee: A Protestant pastor turns Catholic

From Mary-hater to Marian devotee: A Protestant pastor turns Catholic

MANILA, Dec. 5, 2015—A news post by ABS-CBN dated Nov. 14 claims a growing number of Filipino Catholics toy with the idea of leaving the Church, that is, if they have not already done so.

Citing a survey made by Social Weather Station (SWS) in April 2013, which shows that as many as 9.2 percent of Filipinos, or one out of 11, reporter Gigi Grande echoes the sentiment of Jesuit priest Fr. Joel Tabora that that the Church in the Philippines is “in trouble”.

Former Protestant Pastor Noe Dora (left) tells his conversion story to Know The Truth host Marwil N. Llasos. (Photo: Raymond A. Sebastián)

What Grande has failed to report —  if only for sake of fairness — is that while there may indeed be an exodus of the faithful into either one of the tens of thousands of Christian and semi-Christian movements sprouting here and there over the last few decades, or who simply forsake organized religion altogether, there is a brighter, more hopeful side to the story — the conversions of non-Catholics to the Roman Catholic faith, often unreported in media.

If hundreds or even thousands of Catholics, many of whom Catholics only by name, bid their Church goodbye, then the reverse is just as true: non-Catholics are entering the Roman Catholic Church to get baptized, one of them is Brother Noe Dora of Cebu whose story, simply put, is one for the books.

Dora, who credits the Blessed Virgin for his conversion, is no ordinary convert who had “issues” with the Catholic Church.

According to him, he was a cradle Protestant preacher who has found the Truth after years of intensive study and discernment. Raised in a devoutly Protestant family, he loathed anything “popish,” that is, Catholic. From his father, he learned how to break statues of Catholic saints into pieces, considering them “idols,” and held anything “Roman” in contempt.

He had finished his ministry studies at the Asia Pacific Bible Seminary in Cebu City where he also spent 15 years as pastor and was founding president of the Pure Gospel of Jesus Christ International Ministries, Inc.

Loving Jesus’ Mother

For five years before his baptism in 2007 by no less than then Cebu Auxilliary Bishop Joselito Cortes who now oversees the Diocese of Dumaguete, Dora was secretly devouring various books, researching on the True Church Christ founded, and came to the conclusion that it’s none other than the One Holy Catholic Apostolic Church.

He credits the Blessed Virgin as well as the Divine Mercy for giving him the courage and the understanding to finally cross the Tiber. Noe wondered, “If Protestants profess to really love Christ, how come they refuse to accept the Woman who gave Him birth? Why do they keep maligning her?”

To which he himself gave the answer: “A love for Jesus cannot be complete without a love for His mother.”

Dora also lauded the beauty and majesty of Catholic prayers. Before his conversion, he shared he was big on the “personal-relationship-with-God” thing, and therefore could not bring himself to pray for the salvation of other people.

The Divine Mercy changed that.

Quoting a part of a prayer St. Faustina Kowalska recorded in her diary, Dora declared: “For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and the whole world.”

Persecution from family, friends

His path to Catholicism, as one would expect, came with a price.

Like John Henry Cardinal Newman, J. R. R. Tolkien, Edith Stein, Charles Dawson and so many other converts before him, renowned and obscure alike, “Pastor” Noe had to deal with persecution, mainly from “disgruntled” kin and followers.

Fellow pastors accused him of receiving money from Catholic authorities. As a founder of his own church, the erstwhile pastor led a comfortable enough life. After his conversion which also meant the loss of his job, he had to make do with living in a humble hut, planting root crops to survive.

Visiting him once in his “bahay-kubo” on the countryside, the pastors only saw, much to their embarrassment, the Cross Dora had to bear for his new-found faith.

He was poor, penniless.

‘Converted pastors’

Unsurprisingly also, his own family practically disowned him as soon as word of his “betrayal” reached them. By his own admission, his father was a “church planter” and veteran debater, who groomed him into becoming his successor. One could only imagine the shock of the Elder Dora on learning that Little Noe had espoused the “Whore of Babylon”.

Despite the trials he had to go through, Dora said he is happy because he knows he made the right choice.

By a twist of fate—or more correctly, by the power of the Holy Spirit—his whole household, including his “Catholic basher” of a father, impressed by his courageous witness, took the road to Rome.

Today, Dora, now “Brother Noe,” heads the Association of Pastors Converted to the Catholic Church of the Philippines, a group that prides itself for having a  membership of over a hundred formerly anti-Catholic Protestant preachers.

To visit the group’s page, click Noe tours the country giving testimonies of his conversion in different Churches.

On Jan. 31, he is scheduled to give a talk to the Children of Light (COL) Charismatic Community from 1:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at 851 Oroquieta St., Santa Cruz, Manila where he will discuss the “Biblical and Historical Reasons behind His Conversion to the Catholic Faith”.

Dora’s full televised interview with Catholic lay preacher and lawyer Marwil N. Llasos on the apologetics program “Know The Truth,” is set to be aired soon over TV María. (Raymond A. Sebastián/CBCP News)

Apologetics on Mass

Agosto 8, 2012

Ang Simbahan nga gitukod ni Ginoong Jesu-Cristo gitawag og “APOSTOLIKA,” kun may kinaiya nga APOSTOLIKANHON. (CFC 1407)

Ug hinumdomi!

Mark 3:13-14 – “He goeth up unto the mountain, and calleth unto Him who He would: and they came unto Him. And He ordained twelve, that they should be with Him, and He might send them forth to preach” (King James Version).

(Nia aning maong libro!)//

The New Encyclopedia Britannica, Vol. 26, 15th Edition, p. 928, nagkanayon: Roman Catholicism – A Christian Church characterized by its uniform, highly developed doctrinal and organizational structure. Traces its history to the college of Apostles in the 1st Century Church.”

Ang New Book of Knowledge Encyclopedia, Vol. 16, p. 287, Copy Right in 1971, nagkanayon: “The history of

the Roman Catholic Church began in Upper Room in Jerusalem almost 2000 years ago…The Church maybe

described as the Society founded by Jesus.”

Term generally applied to the Divine society founded by Jesus Christ, and endowed by the outpouring of the Holy Ghost on the day of Pentecost. More specifically the name denotes the body of the faithful in communion of the Bishop of Rome, hence often called Roman Catholics.”

Binisaya: Iglesya Katolika.

Roma 10:14-15 – “Apan unsaon man nila pagsangpit kaniya kon wala sila motuo? Ug unsaon man nila pagtuo kon wala nila hindunggi ang mensahe? Ug unsaon man nila pagkadungog kon wala kini iwali? Ug unsaon man pagwali sa mensahe kon WALAY GIPADALA NGA MAGWAWALI?”

Pope Benedict XVI meeting Protestant leaders in Ecumenical Dialogue

Does it mean, Protestants are also for Christ? And shall also be SAVED? hmmm… heheh 🙂
That’s a good question you ask there [Julio Jesoro] Louie Jay. There are men who out of sincere convictions are against the Church not for what it is but for what they think it is. If they are invincibly ignorant of the true gospel of Christ and of his Church these men can still attain salvation by the grace of God (Titus 2:11) if they follow the dictates of their conscience according to the light of truth that is shown to them. These men will be saved not because of their being a Muslim, a Buddhist, or a Protestant but because of the Catholic Truth which they also hold [like Muslims believe in one God and protestants believe in the Trinity and scriptures]. But since men in our fallen state is easily deceived by the Evil One (Rom 1:23-24) then there is the most urgent imperative to convert them to the Catholic Church in which alone Christ entrusted the fullness of salvific truth and salvific means. God does not outrightly condemn a person to hell because his name is not in the Catholic baptismal registry nor outrightly will admit a person into heaven just because his name is in the list. This heresy called Feeneyism has long been condemned by the Church. In present generation, there are many protestants who are born into a protestant environment and upbringing many of which are hostile to the Catholic Church. This men cannot be faulted with the same gravity of offense as the original reformers like Luther, Calvin, et al. But again, even though they possess some elements of truth but they lack the fullness which Christ willed for his followers which can be found in Christ’s Catholic Church ALONE.

St. Peter received the Keys of the Kingdom from the Lord

I would like to share an answer to this comment by Hernane Lumanog from Debate Unlimited blog: “well it is your prerogative to claim that in the catholic doctrine it teaches that the catholic church was founded by Jesus Christ. But I want is a biblical proof that Jesus Christ is the founder of the catholic church.”

I would like to invite him to read Matthew 16:18where Jesus said to Peter: “Thou are Peter and upon this rock I will build my Church and even the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it.

There are certain important points that we can draw from these words of Jesus. First, that it is Jesus himself who will establish his Church here on earth. He did not delegate this task to some other person in a future time. Second, it has pleased our Lord to established his Church upon Peter as the visible head for he says “Thou are Peter [aramaic kepha = rock] and upon this rock I will build my Church. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven…” Third, from Jesus solemn promise “even the gates of Hell will not prevail against it [his Church]” we can derive the attribute of perpetuity, indestructibility, and infallibility.

Now all these identifying marks and attributes which our Lord willed to be possessed by his Church we can find only and fully in the Catholic Church alone. History knows of no other person responsible for founding the Catholic Church other than Jesus Christ [Groliers Encyclopedia Volume 5, page 106 and other standard references]. Only the Catholic Church recognizes the authority which Christ gave to St Peter which has continued in an unbroken line of his successors. Only the Catholic Church has an unbroken history which can be traced back to the time of the Apostles thus she possesses perpetuity in duration. In contrast the protestant denominations, too numerous to mention, can be shown to be only of recent origin and we can point out their founders which is an undeniable proof of their human origin. The Catholic Church has survived and weathered all her enemies both from within and from outside her fold which is a proof of her indestructibility. The Catholic Church lays the solitary claim to infallibility in her teachings on faith and morals that is she claims to teach the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth (see also 1 Timothy 3:15).
