Totoo bang walang sign of X (cross) sa loob ng Bible?
Ezekiel 9:4-6 New International Version (NIV)
4 and said to him, “Go throughout the city of Jerusalem and put a MARK on the foreheads of those who grieve and lament over all the detestable things that are done in it.”
5 As I listened, he said to the others, “Follow him through the city and kill, without showing pity or compassion. 6 Slaughter the old men, the young men and women, the mothers and children, but do not touch anyone who has the MARK. Begin at my sanctuary.” So they began with the old men who were in front of the temple.
Tanong: Ano ba ang hugis sa sinabing MARK o MARKA sa mga talata ng bibliya sa itaas?
Ezekiel 9:4-6 New American Bible (Revised Edition) (NABRE)
4 and the LORD said to him:[a] Pass through the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and mark an X on the foreheads of those who grieve and lament over all the abominations practiced within it. 5 To the others he said in my hearing: Pass through the city after him and strike! Do not let your eyes spare; do not take pity. 6 Old and young, male and female, women and children—wipe them out! But do not touch anyone marked with the X. Begin at my sanctuary. So they began with the elders who were in front of the temple.
a. 9:4 Ezekiel emphasizes personal accountability; the innocent inhabitants of Jerusalem are spared while the idolatrous are punished. An X: lit., the Hebrew letter taw.
Ezekiel 9:4-6 New Jerusalem Bible (NJB)
4 and Yahweh said to him, ‘Go all through the city, all through Jerusalem, and mark a CROSS on the foreheads of all who grieve and lament over all the loathsome practices in it.’
5 I heard him say to the others, ‘Follow him through the city and strike. Not one glance of pity; show no mercy;
6 old men, young men, girls, children, women, kill and exterminate them all. But do not touch anyone with a CROSS on his forehead. Begin at my sanctuary.’ So they began with the old men who were in the Temple.
1 Corinthians 1:18 New International Version (NIV)
Christ Crucified Is God’s Power and Wisdom
18 “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”
Galatians 6:14 New International Version (NIV)
14 “May I never boast except in the CROSS of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.”
John 21:25 New International Version (NIV)
25 Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.
2 Thessalonians 2:15 New International Version (NIV)
15 So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold fast to the teachings[a] we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter.
a. 2 Thessalonians 2:15 Or traditions
Matthew 18:18 Good News Translation (GNT)
Prohibiting and Permitting
18 “And so I tell all of you (The Church): what you prohibit on earth will be prohibited in heaven, and what you permit on earth will be permitted in heaven.
Komento: Basi sa talata ng bibliya na iyan, papahintulotan ito ng Dios sa langit.

CFD Metro Manila 6th Formation Meeting: BIGGER, YOUNGER, STRONGER!!!
The 6th Formation Meeting of CFD Metro Manila was once again held in Siena College yesterday [Sunday July 26, 2015]. As usual Atty. Marwil Llasos led the gathering attended by more than 170 participants. This celebration is simple but very special because of the following reasons:
1. The celebration of NATIONAL DINUGUAN DAY to commemorate the Foundation Anniversary of our friends and brethren in the Iglesia ni Manalo [INC]. The large bowl of Dinuguan was immediately consumed as well as the two tray [Bilao] of Puto [White rice cakes]. Ha ha ha…
Bro. Oliver Policarpio of Valenzuela City enjoys the Dinuguan with fellow participants.
2. The great success of the Mock Debate on the DIVINITY OF THE LORD JESUS. Bro. Romeo Acido Mahinay, Bro. Enzo Amarille and Gian Carlo Tox defended the Lord’s Divinity while the veteran debater Bro. Melchor Manalili and Bro. Michael Puno of CFD Bulacan played the opposite side.
Bro. Romeo Acido Mahinay arguing for the Divinity of Jesus during the Mock Debate
3. Next the surprised arrival of two CONVERTS TO THE CATHOLIC FAITH. Both of them are very educated and intelligent and spoke well about their conversion and their love of the Church. One is CARL ABLEO which was added and contacted by CFD Manila President Michael Vincent Suico. Carl is a fourth year College student at the prominent University of Sto. Tomas. The other convert is a very stunningly beautiful lady named Ms. Lou Ching or nicknamed Ms. BemBem, a trainor of beauty queens both national and international. She was contacted by our CFD QC President Atty. Marwil. GOOD JOB TO BOTH OUR CFD METRO MANILA PRESIDENTS, Mars and Mico.
Carlo Cortez and Enzo Amarille, one of the Mock Debaters, held the logo of CFD Manila.
Ms. BemBem is a convert from SDA by her own personal studies. The CFD Boys were so infatuated by her beauty and grace. Ha ha ha… She is also very intelligent and articulate as a beauty queen should be. The boys narrated how she expressed herself in fluent English. Ha ha ha… WE PROMISE TO PRESENT HERE EACH OF THEIR CONVERSION STORY.
4. Finally, Atty. Marwil read the LETTER OF REV. FR. ABE ARGANIOSA, the CFD National Adviser, formally ANNOUNCING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF CFD NAVOTAS [San Roque Chapter] led by Bro. Marlon Serrano who were present with his entire set of newly elected officers. WE SHALL PRESENT THEM HERE THROUGH A SEPARATE POST TO GIVE THEM A MORE WARMING WELCOME AND INTRODUCTION.
Atty. Marwil acting as CFD Luzon Governor formally accepted the establishment of CFD NAVOTAS [San Roque Parish]. They are showing here the formal acceptance of the Parish Priest Fr. Lauro Frias.

MANILA, June 3, 2015—“King James” in one hand and “Ang Biblia” in the other, members of the Catholic Faith Defenders (CFD) Metro Manila stage mock debates to hone their familiarity with Scripture.
But there is more to these apologists than their ability to recite memorized verses. It’s called relationship. Community. Solidarity.
More than the chance to hone their debating skills, it is their love for the truth and the desire to win friends that bring many students and yuppies, former anti-Catholics and agnostics together to study the faith. (Photo: Raymond A. Sebastián)
Becoming better Catholics
“I may already know to how to parry every accusation critics hurl against the Church. But more than my debating prowess, what I am more thankful for is the leadership skills I gained and the new friends I found in CFD. They inspire me to become a good Catholic, and I strive to be better daily,” shared Michael Vincent Suico, president, CFD Quezon City, which has become “barkada” of former agnostics, ex-Protestants and formerly not-so-serious Catholics.
According to him, the Gospels are also about winning friends, “loving them as one’s own blood brothers and sisters.”
“If your friendship is deeply rooted in Christ, I assure you no one can destroy it,” said the young accountant.
Debunking Catholic caricatures
Catholics are allegedly “no good” when it comes to reading, let alone quoting, the Bible. One less than flattering stereotype is of a regular churchgoer who scratches his head in embarrassment trying to locate just one verse.
This image is fast-changing in ways few expect.
Thanks in part to social media and a growing awareness that the Church in the Philippines must be proactive if she is to exist for the next 500 years, more and more Filipinos have come to embrace and live up to what history has always proved: that Catholics are the original “Bible Christians.”
Who would have thought this realization and their thirst for God’s written word would bring together people who used to view one another with suspicion?
United by Bible
Between 80 to a hundred Catholics, among whom many formerly lax ones, ex-Protestants, and agnostics, from different episcopal sees in Metro Manila and elsewhere, meet every 4th Sunday of each month to study and discuss Scriptures in the light of Sacred Tradition and the Church’s teaching office.
They do this in response to the call of the local bishops as expressed in the Second Plenary Council of the Philippines (PCP II) of 1991 to rediscover the Bible in view of the challenges various anti-Catholic groups have raised.
Parts of PCP II 222 read: “There is the challenge to read and study, pray over and love the written Word of God … May the Bible, read in the Church, occupy the place of honor it deserves in every Catholic heart, home, and parish.”
It adds: “We are also challenged to provide catechesis which will enable Catholics ‘to make a defense to anyone who calls you to account for the hope that is in you’ (1 Peter 3:15), and lead to a mature personal commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ, and a living relationship with Him, the Father, and the Holy Spirit.”
New-found love for Sacraments
According to Suico, defending the faith makes sense.
Members of Catholic Faith Defenders – Quezon City get serious about the faith. (Photo: Raymond A. Sebastián)
“We do not learn the faith just for the sake of knowing it. We are duty-bound to practice what we know is true and right. When you are into apologetics, you will appreciate the sacraments better. Waking up early on Sundays for Mass will no longer pose problems. The fear of confessing one’s sins will vanish,” he added.
Living what one defends
For Kristoffer Torralba, also an accountant, confession was not always easy.
“I defended the acceptability and efficacy of confession long before I entered apologetics, but for some reason I myself refused to submit myself to it. Thanks to CFD, I have learned to live what I defend, to practice what I preach,” he said.
“I’d like to believe I’ve become a better Catholic. And precisely because of this, I am more conscious of what I do [now] that I stand on stronger moral ground. I try my best to make it shine through my actions,” Torralba added. (Raymond A. Sebastián/CBCP News)

MANILA, Nov. 10, 2014 — The Archdiocese of Manila officially accredited the Catholic Faith Defenders (CFD) – Manila Chapter as a duly recognized organization under the auspices of the archdiocese on Oct. 23 through a letter signed by Manila Auxiliary Bishop Bernardino Cortez, Bishop-in-charge of the Council on Formation.

The prelate, who is CFD’s formator, praised the group saying, apologetics or the defense of the Catholic faith is “a noble endeavor” and “presupposes adequate knowledge of the content of the faith in its entirety and the assimilation of the proper disposition for its communication to all men and women.”
The group’s accreditation will be for a period of two years and requires members of CFD to undergo basic and on-going formation under the supervision of the Council on Formation.
“The accreditation presupposes allegiance to Rome and the local Church and its Ordinary. The accreditation and the rite of welcome would not have been possible without it,” said Fr. Carlos Reyes, one of CFD – Manila’s overseers of formation.
According to him, accreditation also means that CFD – Manila enjoys “ecclesiastical approval” and a “mandate which derives from the proper ecclesial authority.”
He added that the said accreditation came only after the archdiocese’s “exhaustive and expert study of the CFD’s current leadership and orientation.”
In an interview with CBCP News, CFD – Manila’s president Robertson Poblete said he plans to focus on the group’s formation.
“Initial plans, formation first, of course. And I am happy because it is the Archdiocese of Manila that will take care of us when it comes to formation,” he added.

QUEZON City, Jan. 27, 2015—The Catholic Faith Defenders-Quezon City (CFD-QC) held its first apologetics training class at the Sta. Catalina Convent’s Mother Francisca Formation Hall, Siena College Quezon City, Sunday, Jan. 25, during which they learned the proper context of the Bbiblical prohibition on idolatry, and shared pointers on how to effectively debunk one of the most common Catholic myths of all time—the alleged “worship” of images—citing Scripture.
With at least 60—mostly college students and young professionals—trainees wearing “Pope Francis shirts” attending, CFD-QC Chairman Marwil N. Llasos exhausted the Bible, enumerating the many verses that not only support, but endorse the Catholic practice of the making, as well as the veneration (dulia) of images for religious purpose.

A lawyer, Llasos warned against the danger of individual private interpretation, stressing how taking a book as ancient and as complicated as the Bible “too literally” and out of its context have led many to have biases against the Catholic Church.
In doing this, the chairman provided the correct historical and cultural background of verses “Bible-alone” anti-Catholics use to malign the Church Jesus founded.
An open forum followed the lecture, where questions related to the topic were raised and answered.
The first-ever CFD Quezon City Catholic apologetics training session was consecrated to Mary, Untier of Knots, the favorite Marian title of Pope Francis who visited the Philippines recently.
Llasos entrusted CFD Quezon City to the “maternal protection of her who unties the knots of evil, sin, malice and all kinds of persecution and difficulty.”
He said, “Before the mighty name of Mary, Untier of Knots, the forces of Satan tremble: ‘O loving Mother, before your mighty name the forces of Satan tremble. You are the lily of eternal valleys, the sure path. Fill us with your love, take us into your comforting and loving arms, let the light of your face shine upon us.”(Raymond A. Sebastián/CBCP News)

MANILA, Nov. 16, 2014—His group’s status finally becoming official, the newly elected head of the Catholic Faith Defenders (CFD) Manila vows to make his leadership a model of balance and sobriety in defence of the faith.
In a recent interview, Robertson T. Poblete told CBCPNews that as CFD Manila’s first ever president, his approach to apologetics aims to strike a balance between knowledge and spirituality.
John Vincent Suan, CFD Manila secretary and Robertson T. Poblete, CFD Manila president with then Manila Auxiliary Bishop, now Infanta Bishop Bernardino Cortez (Photo: CFD Manila)
“There will be a golden mean between knowledge and spirituality, as well as between apologetics and evangelization,” he said.
Poblete shared he will work, not only towards making CFD members capable of responding to false anti-Catholic accusations, but more importantly, making effective evangelizers who can invite others back to Christ and the Church He founded.
“I intend to lead CFD Manila to a path that upholds the faith in such a way that is not damaging to that same faith,” he explained.
Poblete expressed regrets that there are well-meaning Catholic apologists who, while firm in defending Catholicism, unconsciously cause more harm to the faith they are supposed to defend due to their less-than-charitable style.
In order to reverse this, the president stresses the formation of CFD Manila members both doctrinally and spiritually.
“It’s important that CFD Manila members are not only knowleagable apologists who are able to explain the faith, but more so, ones who are mature spiritually,” he added.
Allegiance to the Church
According to Poblete, his group takes pride in having some of the Philippines’ top Catholic apologists helping in their formation: lawyer Marwil N. Llasos of the Company of Saint Dominic (CSD), Fr. John Barro, and Fr. Carlos V. Reyes, executive secretary of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP)’s Episcopal Commission on Interreligious Dialogue (ECID).
CFD Manila was formally received into the Archdiocese of Manila (RCAM) family Sunday, Nov. 9, the “Feast of the Dedication of St. John Lateran” at Villa San Miguel, Mandaluyong City.
It had earlier been granted archdiocesan approval by then RCAM Auxilliary Bishop Bernardino Cortez who heads the Council on Formation.
Reyes stated CFD Manila’s accreditation presupposes its allegiance to Rome, the local Church and its Ordinary.
“The accreditation and the rite of welcome would not have been possible without it. Furthermore, the accreditation means that CFD Manila enjoys ecclesiastical approval and mandate which derives from the proper ecclesial authority, RCAM, the only authority in the Archdiocese that is able to grant such approval and mandate, after a thorough, exhaustive and expert study of the CFD’s current leadership and orientation,” he added. CATHOLIC FAITH DEFENDERS OF QUEZON CITY INITIATED
DECEMBER 28, 2014 – ATTY. MARWIL N. LLASOS, OP initiated the formation of theQUEZON CITY CHAPTER of CATHOLIC FAITH DEFENDERS (CFD) on the Feast of the Holy Family (first Sunday after Christmas) and also the Feast of the Holy Innocents. The date is very significant because the new CFD Chapter has the distinct charism of defending and protecting traditional Catholic and Filipino family values as well as the sanctity of human life from conception to natural death. Incidentally, the date is the 39th birthday of Atty. Marwil Llasos and the 10th sacerdotal anniversary of REV. FR. ABRAHAM P. ARGANIOSA, the honorary national adviser of CFD.
CFD Coordinator for Luzon Atty. Marwil N. Llasos explains the rationale for the initiation of CFD Quezon City Chapter
The initial meeting of CFD QC was held from 1:00 in the afternoon at Mother Francisca Formation Hall, Sta. Catalina Convent, Siena College Quezon City. Atty. Marwil Llasos is a faculty member of Siena College Quezon City.
The meeting started with the praying of the Holy Rosary. It was followed by the introduction of the attendees which numbered around 50. They mentioned their involvement in Church ministries and their background in Catholic apologetics. Members of the Children of Light Catholic Community as well as the production staff of Know the Truthheaded by Bro. Peter Gracia III attended the meeting.
Know the Truth producer Bro. Peter Garcia III attends the initial meeting of CFD Quezon City
Thereafter, Atty. Marwil Llasos mentioned the rationale for the initiation of a Quezon City Chapter of CFD. As a long-time member of CFD, having been the Legal Adviser of CFD-Davao and the duly-authorized Coordinator of CFD for Luzon, Atty. Llasos helped in the initiation of CFD Chapters in Nueva Ecija, Tarlac and Bulacan. The CFD National Office, through the CFD National President Engr. Ramon M. Gitamondoc, appointed Atty. Llasos as “coordinator and trainor in the field of apologetics” for Luzon. The CFD National Office fully gave him the “right and authority to initiate, form and organize Chapters as well as to train, form and organize fellow workers for promoting the Bible apostolate in all types of organizations, Church-based or otherwise.” He is “required to submit all names of all members who have undergone proper training and make a timely report on all significant activities and seminars through the Catholic Faith Defenders Inc. National Office.”
Pursuant to the said mandate, and in obedience to the leadership of CFD National Office, Atty. Marwil Llasos organized the Quezon City Chapter of CFD with the assistance of Mr. Manuel Protacio, CFD National Board Member and the blessing of Fr. Abe Arganiosa, the honorary national adviser of CFD.
Bro. Hendrick Albina mentions his involvement in Catholic apologetics
Atty. Marwil Llasos explained the aim of the CFD to organize as many chapters in the country, in all dioceses if possible. The CFD is a lay-initiated and lay-run organization and movement. It holds a mandate from HIS GRACE ARCHBISHOP JOSE S. PALMA, DD of the Archdiocese of Cebu and the guidance and direction of REV. FR. LUCAS INOC of the same Archdiocese. The CFD has its own Constitution and By-Laws as a non-stock, non-profit corporation duly incorporated and registered with the Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission. The initiation of CFD Quezon City Chapter is the response of the youth of Quezon City to the challenges and responsibilities posed by the Year of the Laity.
In his talk, Atty. Marwil Llasos stated that CFD Quezon City must have the distinct flavor of being pro-life. He recalled that the Reproductive Health Law (RH Law) was passed in the Philippine Congress in Batasan which is within the territory of Quezon City. The City Council was also the first to pass a Reproductive Health Ordinance in the country. Ordinances favoring same-sex unions in the city have already been proposed. Hence, CFD Quezon City must take up the cudgels for family and life.
PMA Cadet John Raven Bernarte introduces himself
Atty. Marwil Llasos likewise expressed the long-time dream of CFD National to establish a Chapter right in the very territory of the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC). The INC’s central headquarters is located in Diliman, Quezon City. With the establishment of CFD Quezon City, there is now a CFD Chapter right in the backyard of the INC. Atty. Llasos also mentioned that the Diocese of Novaliches is building the Shrine for the Youth (in Christ the King Parish) just beside the mammoth chapel of the Iglesia ni Cristo in Commonwealth, Quezon City. The Quezon City Chapter of CFD aims to counter the active proselytization of the INC in the Dioceses of Cubao and Novaliches.
Mr. Manuel Protacio, CFD National Board Member gives an orientation during the initial meeting of CFD Quezon City
Mr. Manuel Protacio, CFD National Board Member gave an orientation on apologetics to the attendees of the initial meeting. He shared tips on how best to answer the questions of non-Catholics (cf. 1 Pt. 3:15). He conveyed the appreciation of the CFD National for the establishment of a new CFD Chapter in Metro Manila.
Thereafter, the Quezon City Chapter of the CFD was officially initiated with the selection ofad interim officers through consensus. As CFD Coordinator, Atty. Marwil Llasos was tasked to serve as Chairman of the new Chapter pending the regular election of the set of officers based on the Constitution and By-Laws of the CFD. Other officers were likewise selected by consensus. The officers are residents of either Cubao or Novaliches. The membership is open only for residents of the two dioceses comprising Quezon City although apologetics training, seminar and formation are available to residents of other areas to train them as leaders of the Chapter soon to be established in their locality.
The initial meeting of CFD Quezon City was concluded with the singing of the Salve Reginain honor of the Queen of the Most Holy Rosary of La Naval de Manila, the canonically-crowned patroness of Quezon City.
